Student Assistant - Chancellor’s Office Human Resources
The CSU Office of the Chancellor is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Assistant to provide clerical front desk support to the Chancellor’s Office Human Resources department, twenty hours per week, Monday - Friday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. When classes are not in session, such as during spring and summer breaks, the Student Assistant may be eligible to work up to 40 hours per week.
Position Information:
The anticipated salary for this position is $18.00 per hour.
The salary range for this classification is $16.90 to $24.00 per hour.
This position is temporary, part-time, and does not include benefits.
This is an 'On-Site Only' position located at the main headquarters in Long Beach, California.
Part-Time Employees are not eligible to telecommute.
Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Student Assistant will perform various clerical activities in support of the department. Typical duties include providing telephone and front desk coverage, maintaining files and various records and spreadsheets; copying and collating a wide variety of documents; mailings; scanning; and other departmental support duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
The student must be enrolled in at least 6 units at a CSU campus. This position requires basic experience in an office environment; basic knowledge of general office procedures and standard office equipment; basic working knowledge of current software applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Smartsheet, Adobe; ability to learn and perform assigned work; ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities; good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. This position may require the ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable laws.
Additional duties include:
- Assists with special projects, including document editing and basic design/communications support.
- Assists with COHR marketing.
- Assists with new hire onboarding preparation, including assembling onboarding materials and coordinating onboarding activities.
- Supports mail distribution and general office operations.
- Maintains records, spreadsheets, and assists with data tracking.
- Provides general administrative support to COHR staff as needed.
- Preferred: SharePoint / Adobe / Canva / Workvivo.
