Job Summary

  • Provide lecture and lab support in the form of set-ups of equipment, displays and demonstrations, and laboratory support for experiments and other learning activities, and researching required materials, supplies, and equipment consistent with an academic program in engineering and technology.
  • Modify, design, and fabricate equipment and technical apparatus for specific teaching and research requirements.
  • Troubleshoot instruction and student research experiments and recommend protocol changes, if needed.
  • Assist students with procuring raw material (steel, and specialty parts) for senior design projects. 
  • Work effectively and independently resolving problems and dealing with overlapping deadlines and laboratory schedules.
  • Establish and enforce safety policies for use of departmental laboratories and facilities.
  • Maintain, repair, modify, and develop demonstration mechanical and electrical equipment used in BRAE.

 

Education and Experience

Equivalent to three years of experience providing instructional support services for a related unit or discipline, or in producing materials or supplies or repairing equipment in a discipline related to the area to which assigned.
OR
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
OR
Equivalent to four years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline related to the area to which assigned may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $26.58 - $29.24 per hour

Classification Range: $26.58 - $46.14 per hour
