MECHANICAL ENGINEERING / ENGINEERING DESIGN - The Mechanical Engineering Department within the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA, invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer of Mechanical Design. Primary duties will be teaching introductory and advanced courses in Mechanical Design, which include Solid Modeling, Design Thinking, Design for Strength and Stiffness, Design of Mechanical Systems, and the Capstone Senior Design Project. A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or closely related field is required and advanced degrees and industrial experience are preferred.
Located on the central coast of California, the Cal Poly Mechanical Engineering program is nationally recognized for its focus on undergraduate and Masters level education through a laboratory-intensive, hands-on curriculum. The department is a dedicated community of faculty, staff, and students who strive to design innovative solutions to complex societal problems through creativity and engineering expertise. The department has 1200 BSME undergraduates and 50 MSME students. The undergraduate program includes five concentrations: Energy Resources, HVAC&R, Manufacturing, Mechatronics and a General Concentration which culminates with a full year industry-sponsored senior project experience.
