Position Description

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Dean of Extended Education, this position works to meet complex goals and responsibilities, performs analytical, administrative, and technical duties related to the overall operation of self-support programs including fiscal and budgetary analysis and oversight of the department’s resources including budget projections and reconciliation; database management; and the planning and execution of program events. The Program Coordinator must establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, staff, and faculty associated with Extended Education, and work independently and professionally with all contacts.

Department Summary

Cal Poly Extended Education is a self-support unit that works closely with its university, business, community, and international partners to provide access to Cal Poly’s unique academic programs and educational resources. We offer a diverse range of degree programs, professional certificates, online courses, and international education programs. Extended Education recovers its operating costs through program registration fees, grants, and contracts.

Key Qualifications

  1. Knowledge of the procedures and practices in educational program planning.
  2. Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, the resources of the campus and the surrounding community.
  3. Skill in the collection, evaluation, and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
  4. Ability to determine needs for new or revised programs.
  5. Ability to plan course hours and credit.

Education and Experience

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with courses in adult education and curriculum planning. Equivalent to two years of experience in planning classes or programs in a specialized field or area, preferably in higher, extended, or adult education. Teaching experience in higher or extended education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Salary:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $57,756 - $64,200 per year

Classification Range: $57,756 - $82,212 per year
