MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION - The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo is seeking to fill an academic year, tenure-track position in the broad area of thermal fluids and a focus in Energy Systems with appointment beginning September 12, 2022. Preferred specializations include renewable energy generation, energy storage, building energy management, and energy transmission/transport. This is a unique opportunity for candidates who are passionate about undergraduate education to join a dynamic institution that values teaching and applied research activities through a “Learn by Doing” approach.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field in the general area of thermal fluids and are expected to demonstrate a commitment to, or potential for, teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the university level. Candidates must have significant experience in working with underrepresented students in research, teaching, service, advising, mentoring or community engagement.


Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated excellence in university level teaching and research, experience with laboratory-based instruction, and willingness to teach in multiple areas of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The candidate is expected to be driven with a passion for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as be engaged in scholarship. Prior engineering industry experience and professional licensure is preferable, but not required.
