Job Summary

Under general supervision and as part of a DevOps team, this position operates, supports, and maintains services and moderately complex technical integrations across multiple systems, including monitoring, integrating, and maintaining services and application releases.  This includes both in-house applications and acquired commercial or external tools, such as Cloud-hosted SaaS services. This position anticipates issues and devises automations and resolution methodologies, including providing non-routine maintenance, and long-term assistance to ensure subsystems and infrastructure function together efficiently, to meet business needs. Additionally, this positions serves as a Tier 2 escalation point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, identifies needs, provides solution options, and communicates issue updates and resolutions.

This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Cal Poly’s Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.

Department Summary

Information Technology Services (ITS) is a fast-moving team that is responsible for helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through developing and implementing learning, teaching, and administrative solutions which leverage technology that align with strategic goals and objectives.  With a focus on continuous improvement, ITS fosters innovation, supports continuous learning, and develops people to their full potential.  Our team of more than 170 professionals works in a DevOps environment to shape the technology landscape at Cal Poly.

Key Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience supporting, maintaining, and integrating enterprise applications.  
  • Demonstrated experience using modern scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, Powershell).
  • Working knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), continuous improvement and change management business practices. 
  • Thorough working knowledge of testing practices and application debugging and troubleshooting procedures. 
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement critical maintenance fixes and to isolate and correct malfunctions, including interface problems.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis. 

Salary and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $80,000 - $102,000 per year

Classification Range: $52,464 - $125,736 per year
