| The College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences (CLASS) comprises 19 academic departments, including the Graduate School of Education (GSE), which consists of three departments: Educational Leadership (EDLD), Educational Psychology (EPSY), and Teacher Education (TED).
The GSE offers multiple credential and master’s degree programs, as well as a Doctorate in Education in Educational Leadership for Social Justice. K–12 credential programs include Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Added Authorization in Reading and Literacy, Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, and Clear Administrative Services Credential. These programs are fully accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In addition, EPSY’s MS in Counseling Psychology programs are accredited by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) for Marriage and Family Therapy Associate licensure.
Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean works collaboratively to advance the College’s strategic vision and lead the implementation of ongoing and new initiatives. The Associate Dean performs a broad range of administrative functions for the GSE, including oversight of faculty and staff and supervision of fiscal operations. This role includes assisting department chairs with financial and strategic planning, annual enrollments, recruitment, and faculty workload.
The Associate Dean represents the GSE in formal grievance matters and serves as Chair of Accreditation, overseeing California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and WSCUC accreditation processes. In collaboration with the Dean, the Associate Dean oversees tenure-track faculty searches; serves as the immediate supervisor of GSE office staff; and acts as an ombuds for faculty and staff concerns.
