University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary
Temporary, Non Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 9/30/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $3,379.00-$3,750.00 per month
Location: CSUSB Campus

Work Schedule
40 hours per week. Typically Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM. Some nights and weekends required.

Typical Activities
Under minimal supervision of the Program Director, the Program Specialist will work independently to:
- Responsible for the identification, recruitment, enrollment and delivery of services to participants within the Palm Desert service area.
- Provide specialized program support in the following areas:
- Marketing/Communications:
- Conducts informational presentations for community members and partner organizations to promote program services and recruit eligible individuals.
- Engages in community outreach to promote program services and recruit eligible individuals.
- Responsible for the development and management of the program's communications, marketing and media campaigns.
- Builds and manages the program's social media profiles and presence.
- Monitors and engages relevant social discussions about our program, runs regular social media campaigns and track their success.
- Manages other design needs such as presentations, signage, and collateral as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned; travel throughout the Coachella Valley may be required.
- Specialized Events and Projects:
- Responsible for providing leadership and support to specialized academic and other events such as Cash for College, College Fairs, Career Fairs, workshops, summer programming.
- Works with program staff to ensure proper documentation, consistent implementation, and scheduling.
- Perform other duties as assigned travel throughout the Coachella Valley may be required.
- Participant Support:
- Assist individuals with financial aid applications.
- Assist individuals with enrolling into postsecondary education programs and adult high school diploma/GED programs.
- Serves as the recruiter of new students into the Upward Bound Program.
- Works with program staff involved in the recruitment process of new students and supports establishing and administering strategies for targeting and recruiting new program participants through distance learning platforms and/or in person.
- Participates in the development of student recruitment and retention plans, strategies, and recruitment/marketing /outreach materials.
- Represents EOC in outreach and recruitment efforts.
- Develops and completes initial participant file.
- Maintains confidentiality and safeguards participants records.
- Supports staff in streamlining the transition of new students into the program.
- Reviews and enters prospective student and/or newly recruited student’s data into program database(s).
- Works with program staff in maintaining accurate records and program database on information related to recruitment of new students.
- Attend appropriate TRIO conferences and/or professional development trainings as required.
- Develop, plan, coordinate and implement other program related projects as assigned.
- Some travel to TRIO and/or other professional conferences required.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Applicant must be in senior standing enrolled at an institution of higher education or be enrolled.
- Experience: 2 years of professional experience
- Other:
- The candidate is required to have knowledge of the postsecondary admissions and financial aid processes and criteria, including but not limited to, A-G requirements, college entrance exams, Reentry and GED programs knowledge, admissions criteria, FAFSA, scholarships, housing and other resources for college success.
- Applicants must have experience with recruiting students, records management/training, preparing/facilitating workshops/seminars, coordinating and implementing student services, working with community agencies.
- Applicants must have strong organizational, management, leadership, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Applicants must possess the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information, along with the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse group of people, exercise sound judgement, determine priorities, complete assigned projects in a timely manner and work well under tight deadlines.
- Applicants must have a valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation and vehicle insurance.
- Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in distance learning platforms such as Zoom and Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications
- Strong preference will be given to candidates that have received TRIO-specific training, such as the trainings sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project's target population and or have experience working in similar educational equity programs.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
