The Management, HR and Information Systems Area of the Orfalea College of Business at Cal Poly seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure track, academic year position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the primary area of Information Systems (IS). Preference will be given to applicants who have strong teaching interest in one or more of the following fields: project management, database, cybersecurity, and/or networking.

The successful candidate must have completed a doctorate or equivalent degree in Information Systems or a closely related field from an AACSB or equivalent accredited institution. ABD will be considered but the Ph.D./DBA should be awarded by the time of appointment starts. Applicants are expected to demonstrate exemplary teaching, a strong publication record and research pipeline, and currency in their professional field. Must have the ability to work with diverse students and/or engaging diversity in the curriculum.  


Preference will be given to those with experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.  Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.


The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

The Management, HR and Information Systems Area offer concentrations in Information Systems and Management & Human Resources. The department has seven full-time faculty, a full-time area chair, nine adjunct faculty, one staff, and approximately 240 students enrolled throughout the concentrations. The Orfalea College is accredited under AASCB. The Management portion of the curriculum prepares students for entry-level leadership and management positions, such as management training programs in large corporations, management consulting, and managerial positions in family businesses and other small organizations. Information Systems (IS) is the study of people, organizations, and technology. Following Cal Poly's Learn by Doing philosophy, our students receive hands-on training with the latest technologies and work on real-world collaborative projects alongside their peers, faculty, and our corporate partners.
